1,221,383. Walking mechanisms. O. REIMANN. 4 June, 1969 [11 June, 1968], No. 28303/69. Addition to 1,194,916. Heading B7H. [Also in Division E1] A walking drilling rig has fixed feet 3 and movable feet 4, and a tube clamp 26 mounted on arms 25 which have slot and peg connections 24 with the movable feet 4. The tube is inserted in a bore during drilling by a drill passing through the tube (Fig. 1, not shown) by reciprocating the feet 4 in opposite horizontal directons by means of jacks 16 to oscillate the tube and by operating jacks 8 to lower the movable feet and hence the tube. The tube clamp is in two parts hinged together at 28 and connected by a jack 27. The fixed feet of the rig are connected by cross-beams 6 which act as guides for beams 7a, 7b on which the jacks 8 are mounted. The lower ends of the jacks 8 run on rails (Fig. 3, not shown) on the movable feet 4, and are moved along the movable feet by jacks 18. Sideways walking is effected by jacks 20. The rig has a mast (1, Fig. 1) supported by stays 2. |
