The elastic sealing membrane is for a fluid pressure valve and has a profiled edge (12) for mounting on a support, located between a valve casing and an upper part which contains the valve operating mechanism. The thickness of the membrane increases progressively towards the middle. That part of the membrane extending inwardly from its edge is concave. In all positions of deformation of the membrane in use the part between the edge (12) and the middle forms a continuous and single annular arch (R).
