Variable elongated resistor has a maniaturised adjustment device in the longitudinal direction. It is used as a trimmer, connected in series with a fixed resistance on a printed circuit board. It will therefore not require any additional space sideways-on and will therefore not occupy a greater area than an ordinary fixed resistor. It is made with a wiper frame (5) which can be adjusted along the long longitudinal direction of the resistor. The wiper (6) is in contact with the resistance track. The frame is at an acute angle with the body of the resistor, and will therefore exert a force in the sliding direction. It can be made with a fixed section not contacted by the wiper and a variable section to give a very high tolerance. The variable section can be made up of several sections connected in series.
