PURPOSE:To ensure the reproduction of the infrared-ray picture when the thermal face-type element free from the thermal diffusion by putting the thermal diffusion contribution component of the picture adjacent to each picture element into the original picture element. CONSTITUTION:The thermal image of pyroelectric pickup tube 50 is converted into the electric signals for read-out and then sampled 51 sequentially every picture element to be memorized in 1H memories 55-57 via the gate and every scanning line and in sequence. At the same time, the contents of memories 55-57 are read out at one time and then supplied to adder circuits 81-89 via the gate and the inverter to be added to the observation picture element signal. After this, the fixed coefficient is multiplied to the contents at multiplication circuits 91-99, and each multiplication output is added 100. This addition output turns to the signal of the picture element which gave the compensation to the lowering of the picture caused by the thermal diffusion. Such picture signal process is given to all picture elements in sequence, thus obtaining the picture signal with compensation given to the picture deterioration caused by the thermal diffusion over the entire screen.
