The thermometer enables precise temperature reading even after the contact between the body and the temperature sensor has been broken. the readings can be automatically stored and the end of the measuring cycle can be indicated acoustically or optically. The thermometer contains a measuring sensor, the circuit housing, a digital display and an electronic circuit for measuring signal processing. The processing circuit contains an A/D converter(4), to which is connectable a counter. It includes also a blocking device(5) for the oscillator of the A/D converter. The blocking device preferably incorporates a short circuiting switch(7) parallel to the oscillator. Alternately an isolator switch may be in series to the oscillator. In a developed embodiment the circuit may contain a programmed time switch whose set input is connected to the starting switch of the apparatus, while its output is connected to the blocking device. In such instance the time switch is coupled to a signal generator, which in turn is connected to an optical and/or acoustic indicator.
