Mechanised peat extraction - by crawler mounted bucket elevators and extrusion press producing parallel trenches and stacks on dividing banks

A process for the mechanised extraction of peat, esp of the black peat variety, includes the digging of parallel trenches, leaving banks of the same width between them to facilitate a thorough drying and freezing. The dug peat is tacked in piles, formed by a mobile extension press, on top of the banks. Both have a pref width of 10-15cm. One machine on crawlers thus digs, extrudes and stacks the peat in one operation.
