PURPOSE:To detect an accumulation state of a slurry forming an accumulation layer, by a method wherein an ultrasonic wave is transmitted from a transmitter and received by a receiver being propagated through the slurry to detect the accumulation state of a deposit accumulated in a tank from a propagation characteristic thereof. CONSTITUTION:A transmitter 3 and a receiver 4 are set at a lower part within a tank 1 and an ultrasonic wave is transmitted from the transmitter 3 to be received by the receiver 4 being propagated through a slurry 2. When the ultrasonic wave is transmitted from the transmitter 3 to be propagated through a slurry 2, an intensity attenuation factor and a propagation speed as propagation characteristic are in correlation with the density of solid particles in the slurry 2. The intensity attenuation factor or the propagation speed is measured as propagation characteristic of the ultrasonic wave received by the receiver 4 being propagated through the slurry 2 to determine the density of solid particles in the slurry 2, thereby enabling detection of an accumulation state of a deposit of the slurry 2 accumulated in the tank 1. |
