The electrode has a coating made of electrocatalytic ceramic materials, on substantially incompatible metal substrates, by resorting to use of anchoring pre-coating or interlayer, applied over the metal substrate advantageously by galvanic electrodeposition, pre-coating generally comprising inert metallic matrix contg. particles of ceramic material, which pref. are compatible or even isomorphous with respect to ceramic material constituting the superficial or external electrocatalytic coating.
