A connector member (10) for an optical fibre cable (12) in which the fibre (14) is capable of axial movement relative to a loose jacket (16) thereon, such as a plastic clad silica fibre cable. The connector member (10) comprises a ferrule (28) slidably mounted in a connector shell (18). The cable jacket (16) is secured to the shell (18) while the fibre (14) is connected to the ferrule (28), whereby axial movement of the fibre relative to the jacket of the cable is not translated to the connection of the fibre to the ferrule. This reduces the risk of fibre breakage while the cable is being handled. <IMAGE> |
