Particles thick can be lighter or heavier than water result when concrete residues are washed out. The system has a wash plank, a separation system and a sludge system. The system has a hydrocyclone located between the sludge sump and the various wash systems. This cyclone serves to classify slurry pumped to it into two fractions. The particles size of one fraction is 0.06-3mm. That of the second is from 0-0.06 mm. The precise fractions depend of course on the density of the particles. The coarser fraction is recycled to the general coarse product. The fines are removed as a sludge. For use with cement and concrete mixing and prepn. systems. Thin concrete slurries tend to separate into fractions but can cause severe environment problems, particularly as the deposits will set rock hard. The systems removes the heavier particles which tend to settle out and leaves only those which remain suspended.
