[Also in Division G5] A sound reinforcing and reverberation system for an auditorium comprises at least 10 independent microphone-amplifier-loud-speaker channels each handling the full frequency range. The channels may be arranged in groups with each loud-speaker of a group having the same effect at any point in the auditorium as any other loud-speaker of the group. Fig. 2 shows a system for a theatre in which a group of channels 10, 11 is arranged in the stage space, further channels 15 and 16 are arranged between the stage and auditorium, and more channels between various parts of the auditorium. In an alternative system a reverberant room 31, Fig. 4, is connected by channels 32 to 35 to provide enhanced reverberation in an auditorium 30. It is suggested that additional channels may be utilized having restricted band width to enhance selected frequencies.</p> |
