Pivoting vane rotary pump for viscous fluids - has vanes proportioned to form constant seal between inlet and discharge ports

The pump has a rotor (42) with radial arms (34) each of which carries a pivoting vane (19). An insert (16) in the stator narrows the annular gap (14) between the rotor and stator between the inlet and discharge ports (12, 13). The vanes are carried on bearings projecting axially from the working space and running in a guide which causes the vanes to pivot as they pass the narrow section (16) to form a seal. The length of the insert and the circumferential distance between the vanes are such that one vane seals the section just as the previous vane is leaving it.
