1467453 Cable laying machines ELEKTROMAT VEB 19 July 1974 [17 Dec 1973] 32012/74 Heading D1T Apparatus for axially feeding wire comprises a driving roller 5 geared to a driven roller 6, the rollers 5, 6 being movable towards and away from each other so as to grip the wire therebetween, each of the rollers having spacing means co-operating with each other to simultaneously maintain each roller 5, 6 at substantially the same distance from the axis of feed of the wire at least in the wire engaging position. Roller 5 is mounted on a first bracket 9 that rocks on a sliding bar 8. Roller 6 is mounted on a second bracket 17 that rocks on a fixed supporting arm 16. The bracket 17 is biassed anti-clockwise in Fig. 1 by the spring 19. Bracket 9 carries a major gear 12 fast on a common shaft 13 with a spacing wheel having the same diameter as the pitch circle of the gear 12. Similarly bracket 17 carries a major gear 12' fast on a common shaft 13' with a spacing wheel having the same diameter as the pitch circle of the gear 12'. When the sliding bar 8 moves towards the arm 16 the gears 12, 12' mesh and are held in correct meshing relationship by the engagement of the spacing wheels. A gear wheel rotating with the roller 5 drives the major gear 12'. A gear wheel rotating with the roller 6 is driven by the major gear 12'. When the sliding bar 8 is retracted the rollers 5, 6 move apart in opposite directions. The apparatus is stated to be suitable for use in a cable laying machine. |
