PURPOSE:To prevent the development of cracks and lack of positive polar active substance in the manufacture of cell by placing and pressing an adhesive composition or a porous liquid absorbent on the peripheral edge portion of a positive polar active substance roughly formed into pellets. CONSTITUTION:The positive polar active substance, e.g., silver oxide, etc., is housed in the metal case 1 and its upper part os provided with the negative polar active substance 6 housed in the metal sealed plate 7 through the separator 5. The metal case 1 and the metal sealed plate 7 are enclosed through the seal packing 8 to form a flat type cell. after forming the positive polar active substance 2 of the cell into pellets by compression, the adhesive composition 4 or the porous liquid absorbent 4a is given on the peripheral edge portion 3 in order to raise its mechanical strength by the method in which the adhesive composition 4 of polystyrene, polyvinylbutyral, natural rubber, etc., is dissolved in a solvent and then impregnated into the edge portion 3, or the porous liquid adsorbent 4 whose sectional area is of a L-shape is placed on the edge portion 3 and then pressed by compression. The liquid absorbent 4a is made of kraft paper or polyamide unwoven or woven fabric. |
