PURPOSE:To make better connection by facilitating the insertion of plate groups into cell chamber by reducing the length of a connecting projection extending from the connecting piece of one cell to half the conventional one and by filling supplementally a shortage of lead in the molten lead state. CONSTITUTION:An electrolytic bath is partitioned into plural cell chambers by the partition wall 1 and then the intercell connecting pieces 2 and 2' are provided through the through hole 4 and connected with each other. The projection 3 is provided on the anodic plate group 6 side of the intercell connecting piece 2 and also the through hole 5 is provided on the cathodic plate group 7 side, and the projection 3 is fitted into the through hole 5 and pressed by the pressing tools 8 and 8'. Then, a supplementary lead alloy is filled in th through hole 5 from the nozzle 9 and then both is fused together for connection. The length of the projection 3 of the connecting piece 2 is shortened to the extent that the insertion of the plate group into the cell chamber is not interrupted, or to half the conventional length. Also, in filling the lead alloy, bar-like or powdered lead alloy is fused by plasma or gas flame instantaneously and then blown into it. |
