Percussion tool for mine workings in solid rock - has direct action striker piston and dampers linking this to jib

A support displaceable on the working floor, with a swivelling jib bearing a percussion working tool which turns in the horizontal and vertical plane, is incorporated in the device for driving forward mine workings in solid rock, together with a loading machine with conveyor for removal of demolished material. The tool (11) has a percussion piston (12) acting directly on the rock to pulverise it. The tool is kinematically connected to the jib (2) by damping devices (13), to modulate undesirable deviations by the tool when the piston recoils from the rock, in the direction at right angles to the longitudinal axis, and to assist the tool to return to its correct position.
