PURPOSE:To reduce the gas bearing effect of a slider to stabilize a floating characteristic by providing a vent hole (vent), which passes from an etching face through the reverse face, in the floating head slider which is produced by the surface etching method. CONSTITUTION:Vent hole 5 is provided through floating head slider 1 on etched face 3' which exists between slider floating faces 2. Since air leakage from this part is promoted by passing-through of vent hole 5, the bearing effect of the etched part is reduced considerably, and consequently, etching process quantity d' can be reduced considerably. The vent hole has an advantage to remove dirt, etc., mixed into the slider part. The process quantity dependent upon chemical etching, etc., is not large, and a stable floating characteristic can be obtained by the vent hole, so that the etching process quantity can be reduced considerably. |
