<p>A tampon for introduction in the vagina consists of an elongated inner element which consists at least partly of a material with a capacity to absorb water and to swell. Its outside is covered by an elastic coating which is impermeable to liquids except at one narrow end where the water can penetrate. This protects the vagine against the ingress of germs and bacteria from the water in swimming pools. Chlorination is only possible to a certain degree, and water entering the vagina makes the antibody function of the human body inoperative. The new tampon also prevents allergic reactions.</p> |
