The process comprises (a) putting a portion of a sample in contact with a uric acid indictor and determining the uric acid content and (b) treating a further portion of a sample by contacting it with c medium contg. unicase (which decomposes uric acid), treating it with a uric acid indicator and then determining the uric acid content colorimetrically. The differente between (a) and (b) gives the true uric acid content. The process is esp. for fuels and food products, uric acid excreted by insects gives a measure of the degree of food infestation. The process is simple, sensitive and specific and overcomes errors of previous analytical processes. |
