PURPOSE: To specify a faulty part of a communication system which uses an expert system by identifying a faulty unit of an exchange, scanning a decision tree and identifying a fault replaceable unit. CONSTITUTION: This device tests plural communication resources by an error analyzing task, detects an error in communication resources in a system, and creates a signal that shows the error. It detects the signal, calls out an error analyzing task that is suitable to diagnose the error and specifies a fault replaceable unit by automatically traversing a decision tree. Then, it writes data to describe the error in a data structure in a memory means of the system and shows a message based on the error on the display of the system. Thereby, it can specify a faulty part of the communication system by using an expert system.
