The package is produced from a double film (1) which is produced from a rectangular outer film (2) of heat-sealable material and a protective lining (3), e.g. made of paper. The protective lining is glued to the film (2) by strips of glue (4) and has five connected rectangular surfaces (6, 7, 8, 9, 10), three of which bear closure flaps (12, 13, 14) which are folded onto the end faces of the package when the film (2) is shaped to form a bag of rectangular cross-section. The protective lining (3) protects the film (2) from damage by the packaging material, and the package can be produced in an efficient manner. <IMAGE>
