ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR HAVING WIRE SPREADING MEANS

A housing for a multi-contact electrical connector comprises two housing portions which can be telescopically assembled to each other. Channels are provided in at least one of the housing portions to spread or otherwise reposition wires extending from an end of a cable, which have been positioned between opposed surfaces of the two housing portions. When the housing portions are assembled to each other, the wires are precisely located in the channels. Electrical terminals are insertable from the exterior of the assembled housing portions electrically to contact the wires to permit them to be connected to further conductors on a printed circuit board for example or in a complementary connector.
