The profiled bar is for use in the construction of a frame comprising several such bars. It comprises a base portion (1) and two sides (2, 3) together forming a one-piece U-section. One or more of these portions have on the outside a lengthwise recess (16, 17) or rib (10, 11), forming part of a positive coupling to a further such bar. One side can have one or more undercut grooves, while the other has a rib of complementary section and a groove or rib can be provided on the base portion also. Fixing devices can also be included, to secure a component inside the bar.
