This device comprises two pairs of rigid platens (8, 9) intended to be placed against the facings of the glass plate, the platens of each pair being linked by flexible bent straps curved in a U-form and surrounding the edges of the glass panel. Hooking means (14) are provided on the platens and adjustable ties (18, 19) can be secured in or on these means for blocking by clamping of the device round a door or a glass panel. Lateral shapings on the platens form guides (10) for corresponding shapings on the edges of the string-courses (4) whose axial positionning is secured by means of stops (25). This lay-out allows, given a small number of standardized articles, to set up string courses on doors or panels of very different widths.
