PURPOSE:To form the oxygen sensor low in internal resistance over a wide temperature range and excellent in heat and shock resistance and mechanical strength, by using ZrO2-Y2O3 system porcelain specifically consisting of cubic crystal ZrO2 particles, monoclinic ZrO2 particles as solid electrolyte. CONSTITUTION:The sensor consists of the congregation of the cubic crystal ZrO2 particles 1 in average particle diameter 2-10mu and the congregate of the monoclinic ZrO2 particles 3 in average particle diameter 0.2-1mu, and at the boundary of particles of the cubic crystal particle congregation, the congregation of monoclinic particles is present. The solid electrolyte of ZrO2-Y2O3 system porcelain is used. Further, the average concentration of Y2O3 is about 0.01-1mol% in the monoclinic ZrO2 and about 7-10mol% in the cubic crystal ZrO2, and it is desirable that the amount of the monoclinic ZrO2 in the entire porcelain is about 10-50mol%. The said porcelain is manufactured by about one to 3 hours sintering at 1400-1550 deg.C, after adding Y2O3 powder in particle diameter about 0.5-5mu, about 4-8mol% to ZrO2 powder (single tilt crystal system) of particle diameter about 1-0.5mu and adding binder and molding. |
