PURPOSE:To convert the dimer or trimer of an isobutylene-containing 4C olefin to the corresponding aldehyde, by the hydroformylation reaction with H2/CO gas in the presence of a rhodium catalyst and an organic phosphorus compound, at specific temperature and pressure. CONSTITUTION:The dimer or trimer of an isobutylene-containing 4C olefin (e.g. diisobutylene) is hydroformylated to obtain the corresponding aldehyde (e.g. isononylaldehyde). The reactions is carried out in the presence of (A) a rhodium catalyst (e.g. rhodium oxide) and (B) at least 1mol, based on 1g-atom of rhodium, of an organic phosphorus compound of formula I, II or III (R<1>,<2>,<5> are hydrocarbons; R<3> is H or lower alkyl; R<4> is H or hydrocarbon group), at 80-150 deg.C. and 50- 300atm. EFFECT:The catalyst is stable and can be reused. The reaction proceeds under relatively low pressure. USE:Further hydrogenation of the product yields an alcohol which is a raw material of detergent and plasticizer. |
