<p>Polymerisation of lactams, esp. of epsilon-caprolactam, is carried out in anhydrous conditions in presence of a basic catalyst and a reinforcing agent or filler having surface hydroxyl groups, which are eliminated before beginning polymerisation. When a crosslinking agent is present the hydroxyl groups are eliminated in addition to action by the crosslinking agent. The reinforcing filler is pref. a siliceous mineral of three-dimensional crystalline structure, m. pt. above 800 deg.C., Moh. hardness at least 4 and water solubility less than 0.1 g./l.</p> |
