The arrangement secures a flexible strap (1) to a rigid frame tube (4) of a chair, bed, stretcher or similar. The strap has a loop (3) at one end which is slung around the tube and a retaining element (5) inserted through the loop. The length of the loop is such that its extreme end reaches, or nearly reaches, the start of the loop. The element (5) is U-shaped, having one leg (5a) inserted through the extreme end and the other (5b) through the start of the loop. One leg of the element may have its end bent inward towards the other leg.
