The socket-shaped case for the key heater holds a battery, key slot bounded by resilient plates, and key-operated contact-maker for the electric circuit. The battery (2) has a trickle-charging capacity. One plate is a carbon plate (16), conductively linked to a battery terminal. The inserted key tip meets the other terminal and its side face is pressed against the carbon plate, to close the current circuit. The battery can be of the nickel cadmium type with sinter electrode. This permits key heating using battery of standard miniature cell size, providing temperatures up to 80 deg. and simple battery charging.
