Aromatic urethanes (I; Ar = aromatic group such as substituted Ph or naphthyl), useful as insecticide, were prepd. by the reaction of aromatic hydroxy compds. with aliphatic urethanes (II; R3 = aliphatic group) at 100≦̸C-300≦̸C in the presence of Lewis acid catalyst such as Alx3, Tix4, Few3, Zn X2, Snx4 (x=halogen atom, alkoxy, aryloxy).
