The seat has a cover whose lower face (A) is flat, both faces of the seat being convex. The seat and cover are joined by hinges which are adjusted so that they are slightly shorter than the thickness of the seat and cover. This compresses their surfaces and makes the seat air and noise tight. The seat and cover are made from a PVC or similar paste with a foaming agent. This is moulded on to a frame to shape and colour it in a single operation.
