The weighing appliance has a parallel-guidance device which is combined with a force transducer (1) to form a four-bar mechanism, in such a way that an upper or lower leg of the four-bar mechanism is designed as a force transducer (1) and a lower or upper leg of the four-bar mechanism is designed as a link (3), so that a load carrier (5) is connected to a frame (2) via the link (3) having four points of articulation and to the force transducer (1) by means of a wire (6) as a further point of articulation. The mass reading is derived from the number of interference bands or other physical quantities of the force transducer. Sensitive and exact weighings of the calibratable type are guaranteed. This weighing appliance has a reduced number of points of articulation and a simplified parallel-guidance device without the effects of transverse forces on the accuracy of the weighings. <IMAGE>
