Tubular heating element esp. for underfloor heating comprises a plastics-coated metal tapes which are welded together with their plastics-coated sides leaving only a relatively narrow duct free that serves as passage for a heat-exchange medium. When the heating elements are to be laid in a "meander" pattern then parts of the metal tape(s) are suitably folded, trimmed or notched to enable them (it) to be flexed. The metal tape is made of Cu or Al, and the coating is polypropylene.
