<p>Silicate and/or oxide material as powder or fibre (e.g. basalt, slag, glass, silica gel, boron and lead oxide) is dissolved in alkali or alkali metal silicate (e.g. Li, Na K hydroxides or corresponding silicates) at 80 degrees C under normal or elevated pressure and the resulting solution is dehydrated by spray drying to 5-15% water content. The resulting powder is ground and formed into a suspension with water or coloured metal salt soln. e.g. CoSO4., the suspension coated onto fired or unfired ceramic and fired on. Turbidity materials and organic polymer binders can be added to the suspension.</p> |
