PURPOSE:To realize a polarized wave conversion grid featuring a high mechanical strength and the excellent and the excellent electric properties by making use of the effect obtained from the thickness of the metal plate forming the polarized wave conversion grid and the end of the waveguide. CONSTITUTION:Metal plates 1-7 possess the parallel planes to each other which are also parallel to the propagation direction of the incident wave, and the wave featuring free space propagation wavelength lambda0 propagates toward point C vertical to the paper surface as well as toward X. Plates 1-7 feature depth d and length l along the traveling direction of the wave along with space (a) secured to each other. The linear polarized wave can be converted into the circular polarized wave by securing 0.68>=a/lambda0>=0.65 and 0.68>=l/lambda0 according to the value of d/lambda0. Furthermore, the conversion is possible to the orthogonal linear polarized wave by securing 0.68>=a/lambda0>=0.65 and 1.43>=l/lambda0 according to d/lambda0. As a result, a polarized wave conversion grid can be obtained with the excellent electric properties even though a considerably thick metal plate may be used. |
