<p>1306900 Seaming non-metallic sheet material FR HESSER MASCHINENFABRIK AG 3 Dec 1971 [5 Dec 1970] 56119/71 Heading B5K Apparatus for welding thermoplastic films comprises a welding and severing tool 3, having upper and lower portions 12, 13 which are movable towards one another, and a device for removing waste material 2 from a welded seam, including a member 5 provided with teeth 4, and which is displaceable in a direction parallel to the direction of travel of the portions 12, 13 such that the teeth 4 can engage and remove waste material extending from a welded seam effected by the tool 3. In a wrapping machine, the member 5 is mounted on a holder 6 on guide rods 7 which are longitudinally displaceable in bearings 8 connected to drive elements 10 of the tool 3 so that the rods 7 extend parallel to the direction of movement of the tools 3. Preferably, the teeth 4 are spaced wide apart or one or a plurality of adjacent teeth are flattened, Fig. 3 (not shown). The portion 12 of the tool 3 is provided with a heatable welding and severing wire 15. As shown, two tools 3 and two members 5 are provided to seal a wrapper 11 wrapped around an article 17. In operation, the tool 3 seals and severs and the member 5 is lowered so that the teeth 4 penetrate the waste material 2 and draw it away from the wire 15 so that it is carried below the resilient edge of a remover 18 fixed to the portion 13. During subsequent upward movement of the member 5, the edge of the remover 18 draws the material 2 from the teeth 4.</p> |
