Vacuum switch contact material - comprises sintered mixture of finely divided iron and copper powder

The contact material comprises a mixt. of finely-divided iron and copper, the mean particle size of the iron powder being 10 mu and its proportion by wt. 65-85%. The quantity of technically pure copper powder is up to 35. wt.% with a particle size of 100 mu. Apart from impurities it contains no metals with a greater affinity to oxygen and nitrogen than iron. Up to 5% by wt. of lead, bismuth or antimony can be added to the mixture in powder form, with a particle size 100 mu.
