PURPOSE:To remove pollutants which have so far been nuisances to treat by the procedure in which waste water is regulated its pH, treated by an oxidant to decompose pollutants regultated its pH by slaked lime, treated by sedimentation to remove precipitates, regulated its pH again, and then brought into contact with resin. CONSTITUTION:In the clarification treatment of waste water containing S- or C- compounds formed in the treatment of formed gas in the carbinization of coal, etc., waste water is regulated its pH to 3 to 7, preferably 4 to 6, by the addition of sulfuric acid or NaOH, treated with an oxidant, e.g., NaClO, ozone, etc., to decompose pollutants, regulated its pH to 9 to 12, preferably 10 to 11, by slaked lime, subjected to sedimentation treatment to remove precipitates, regulated its pH to 3 to 5, preferably 3.5 to 4, by the addition of sulfuric acid, and then brought into contact with a styrene-divinylbenzene copolymer-based porous synthetic resin with tertiay amines as active groups. Thus, pollutants can be removed with higher efficiency. |
