<p>PURPOSE:A preserving material for foods comprisig a sheet substrate containing a composition to absorb exygen or ethylene gas, or to produce an inert gas, and the preservation method by means of the material. CONSTITUTION:A substance to absorb oxygen, ethylene, or carbonic acid gas, or a composition to produce an inert gas, e.g. carbonic acid gas, is held in the interior of a porous sheet, e.g. paper or foamed sheet, or the intermediate layer of laminated synthetic resin sheets, to give a preservation material, which is placed in a package containing foods. The substance or composition is obtained by incorporating an alkaline substance and other additives into a mixture of one or two or more types of compounds selected from ferrous compounds, ascorbic acid, and its salts.</p> |
