PURPOSE:To prepare maytansinol, by treating maytanacine, maytansinol propionate or ansamitocin antibiotics with microorganisms which belong to the genus Streptomyces. CONSTITUTION:Maytanacine, maytansinol propionate, or ansamitocin antibiotics are brought into contact with a culture of microorganisms, e.g. Streptomyces coelicolor ATCC-13405 (IFO 3807), which belong to the genus Streptomyces, and have the ability to convert the acyloxy group at the 3-position into the hydroxy group, or its treated substance. |
