<p>In an appliance of this type, sewage sludge from a distributor box (5) is spread in a thin layer (101) by means of a distributor roller (12) onto the transfer drum (1) and is passed by the latter through the irradiation zone (99) of the electron beam source (98). The distributor box (5) has a sealing groove (40) whose open side bears on the transfer drum (1) and is connected to a source for a sealing fluid. This avoids possible penetration of the sewage sludge and thus abrasive particles contained therein into the clearance between the distributor box (5) and the transfer drum (1) which would cause wear on both of these. <IMAGE></p> |
