In order to enable the transmission of high-quality TV still images, a switch-over element which can be controlled by operating elements P1, P2 is arranged at a connection for transmission of moving images. With the switch-over element, the connection can be temporarily taken over for use in or for the transmission channel for the TV still images. Said elements operate with times which ensure brief switch-over intervals and therefore also minimal influence on the transmission of the moving television images. A first memory is arranged to provide "freezing" of the moving picture in the receiving equipment when the connection is cut out during the switch-over interval. In a second readable memory, the still image transmitted during the switch-over interval is stored so that the stored image is accessible to an additional receiving equipment during a predetermined time which can be selected at will. Said switch-over element can be controlled by means of control signals from the operating elements P1, P2. The switch-over element contains line commutators VA, VB, which are arranged to furnish an interconnection, via the particular connection part and depending on the control signals, between a transmitting station, selected freely among several transmitting stations, and a receiving station, selected freely among several receiving stations. The line commutator VB in the receiving equipment is connected to said receiving station via said second memory M2 < 1 >, M < 2 >, ..., M2n.
