The transformer tap changer has main and resistive breaks, and is mounted in an oil filled insulating vessel inside the transformer tank. it is accessible from the transformer cover. The tap changer contacts are mounted in a casing (3) filled with SF6. The casing (3) in the insulating vessel (1) is mounted at a sufficient for the voltage difference distance from the transformer cover (2). The transition resistors (4) of the resistive breaks are mounted inside the insulating vessel (1) but outside the casing for the contacts.
