<p>The tape is easily attached to fibrous materials such as textiles and has a backing surface(1) which supports rows of small spikes(2). These spikes have several barbs(3, 4) with pointed ends inclined downwards and outwards with respect to the spike. When these spikes are pressed into a fibrous material the barbs are trapped by the fibres and prevent withdrawal. The tape is made by extruding plastic sections in the shape of the spike and then cutting the section transversely down to the base along closely spaced lines.</p> |
