Textile web steam fixing appts. has the main fixing chamber in which the web is supported is suspended loops by guide rollers carried by a chain preceded by a preliminary fixing chamber in which there are >=2 guide rollers for the formation of suspended loops. Pref. the formation of loops in the preliminary chamber is assisted by at least one guide roller over which is trained the inner face of the web loop. Preliminary fixing of textile webs prevents running of dye in main fixing chamber.
