<p>Sealing assemblies consisting of details formed from mutually different metals having different coeffts. of expansion, are fitted in a heat exchanger between the flow-mantle enclosing the bundle of pipes for the secondary medium and the inner wall of the inner mantle of the housing, so as to prevent the fluid passing along the outer wall of the inner mantle from circulating between the flow-mantle and the inner wall of the inner mantle. Used to ensure not only that the outermost pipes of the bundle are not raised to a temp. higher than that of those at the centre due to leakages of the primary medium, but also that the seals do not freeze on to the mantle when, say, liquid sodium is cooled and drained off.</p> |
