PURPOSE:To enable a high-accuracy positioning for the magnetic head to the desired track by providing the groove part corresponding to each memory track to the magnetic record medium and then detecting the necessary groove part via the detector. CONSTITUTION:When the positioning signal (position information) is applied to control circuit 5 from outside, circuit 5 drives positioning mechanism 4 to actuate both write/read magnetic head 3 and detector 2. Detector 2 moves to the radial direction of magnetic record medium (magnetic disk) 1 and receives the up-down vibrations via the groove part provided between the magnetic material layers of medium 1 for the position information to change the vibrations of the incorporated piezoelectric element and others into the electric signals. The electric signal is then converted to the pulse signal through A/D converter 6 to be counted by circuit 5. When this count value becomes in agreement with the value of the position information, mechanism 4 is stopped. Thus magnetic head 3 ispositioned on the desired track for recording. |
