PURPOSE:To eliminate occurrence of the edge noise which gives the evil effect to the record/reproduction frequency characteristics and the peak shift of the pattern interference by forming the magnetic circuit end facing to the gap part with the specified several layers of the magnetic substance thin film. CONSTITUTION:Magnetic substance thin films 201-204 at one end of the magnetic circuit detouring along the gap plus magnetic substance thin films 211-214 of the other end are composed of several different materials in order to give larger saturation magnetization and the permeability to the thin films closer to the gap. Therefore, the absolute value of magnetic scalar potential phi near the thin film magnetic head decrease slowly at the edge part excepting the gap. As a result, the edge noise caused by a sudden change of potential phi never occurs, and thus a high-perfomance head featuring a small amount of the peak shift as in case the pole face length is increased. In this case, the thickness of films 201-214 can be set to an order early identical to gap length 2g. |
