PURPOSE:To improve the intensity of base plate, utilization rate of the active material and high rate discharge characteristic by heat-treating carbonyl nickel powder in the air, mixing it in basic nickel carbonate powder, which is thermal- decomposed in the reductive atmosphere, and sintering it. CONSTITUTION:Carbonyl nickel powder is stired on sending air and heat-treated so that air is contacted with the surfaces of nickel particles uniformly. By this treatment, thin oxide film is formed on the surface of nickel particle. The treated nickel powder is mixed in basic nickel carbonate powder, which is thermal-decomposed in the reductive atmosphere, and sintered in hydrogen gas at 1000 deg.C. By the use of this nickel base plate, the intensity of plate, utilization rate of active material and high rate discharge characteristic can further be improved. |
