Quick release fastener for emergency parachute - is actuated by spherical knob which withdraws retaining clip

The parachutist carries an emergency parachute attached to the front of his harness by a snap hook and a wire loop. The wire loop fits between the side plates of the buckle fixed to the lower strap of the harness. The loop is retained by a spring wire clip fitted with a handle and a spherical knob. On landing the parachutist releases his main parachute by releasing the catch. He then pulls on the knob to withdraw the wire clip and releases the emergency parachute from the lower harness.
